Gay-Lussac's Law was formulated by the French chemist and physicist Joseph-Louis Gay-Lussac (). Gay-Lussac is known for his work on the behaviour of gases, his discovery of the law of combining volumes, and his work on alcohol-water mixtures. Gay-Lussac's Law states that the pressure of a given mass of gas varies directly with its absolute temperature when the volume is kept constant.
